Epiphany Lutheran School

3 Year Old Program

2006-2007

Dear Parents,

It is my pleasure to be your child’s teacher this year.  I would like to welcome you and your child to my classroom.

My name is Jill Thompson and this is my third year at Epiphany.  This past year I was the Wee 3s classroom teacher.  I have many years of experience as a classroom volunteer, teacher/instructional aide, substitute teacher and teacher.  I have an Associate in Arts degree from FSU and am currently in the process of obtaining my Child Development Associate National Credential.  My husband, David, and I were both born and raised in Tallahassee.  We have three children at home—Donovan who is 17, Allison who is 16, and Cody who is 13.  It has been a long time since they were in preschool, but they still remember their teachers and have fond memories of their experiences there.

I am very excited about the learning opportunities that will be offered to your child in our center-based classroom.  Play is how young children learn it is their “work” and functional learning centers provide the perfect atmosphere for physical, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual growth in a healthy and safe environment.  Some of the many activities we will be participating in are music, art, reading, pretend play, blocks, manipulatives, computer and outdoor play.  Two of our focus areas are Bible stories and the alphabet.  After we get settled in and used to our routine, we will have a “letter of the week” utilizing art and music to reinforce the learning process.  Two of our big units this year will be camping and the Advent/Christmas season.

Communication is very important and I will strive to keep you informed of our activities on a regular basis through calendars and newsletters.  You are also welcome to call or email me anytime at school or at home.  If I am unavailable when you call, I will return your call as soon as I am able.  You are invited to visit the classroom at any time, and I welcome you as volunteers.  There are many ways to volunteer your time both in the classroom and behind the scenes, and I will be giving you more information about this at Meet Your Teacher Day.

Please mark your calendars for Meet Your Teacher Day on August 10, from 4:00 to 6:00.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child, and thank you for giving me and Epiphany the opportunity to enrich your child’s life.

In Christ,

Jill Thompson
