Dear Parents,

Welcome to Epiphany VPK!  My name is Catherine Lewis and I am so happy to have the opportunity to teach your child this year. I am looking forward to meeting you at “Meet Your Teacher” night August 10^th from 4:00PM to 6:00PM.  I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education, with certification in elementary and early childhood.  This will be my 10^th year teaching overall and my 6^th year teaching at Epiphany.  I am married and have five kids, with three boys and one girl at home now.  

Now that you know a little about me, let me tell you about my teaching style and what you and your child can expect.  I believe each child is unique in every way, including the way they learn.  I allow for each child to develop skills as God intended for them, in their own timing, with plenty of encouragement and praise. I offer many hands on experiences to learn through play.  I believe gaining a love for learning is the first step to blossoming into a wonderful, smart, confident, and creative child.

There are many skills being integrated through play in which the child is learning without knowing it.  Through learning centers your child will learn and master such skills as writing, beginning reading skills, and math concepts.  There will be a different letter each week, along with a Bible story and verse.  Other skills they will gain include social and emotional development, fine and gross motor skills, spiritual awareness and listening and speaking skills.  Through these “play” centers your child will learn healthy concepts about their self and others.

I love visitors and encourage you to come in, peek through the window, or stay a while so you can observe the skills being absorbed that may not go home on paper.  If you ever have any concern or questions please feel free to contact me. Just a few reminders:

Please wear closed toe shoes each day.  This is for safety on the playground equipment.

Please send an extra set of clothes, including undergarments.

Please send a healthy snack each day, milk can be purchased through the office.

You must send a note if there are any changes in pickup.

Chapel will be @ 9:30 every Wednesday, envelopes will be provided for offerings.

Discipline will be handled according to severity.  First, a warning and redirection and if needed a timeout.  If a problem persists, the student is sent to the office,  along with a note or call to mom or dad.

I am anxious to meet and grow with your child. Thank You for giving me and Epiphany the opportunity of guiding your child into the wonderful creature God made.
